Starting his career as a US CPA, Carl was in precision engineering for 20 years, latterly as Divisional President at both Senior PLC and Siebe PLC (now Schneider Electric) with a focus on aerospace, automotive, process automation and industrial controls.  He was then Group Managing Director of the Caudwell Group, Europe’s biggest privately-owned mobile telecommunications support business with sales of $2.5Bn.

Carl spent three years as CEO acquiring, running, and successfully exiting Adria Ltd, Ireland’s then-largest textile business, in an LBO on behalf of a Belfast-based private equity group in which he was a founding partner, achieving a 3-year MOIC of 6.5x.  For the past 15 years, he has been investing in and leading early-stage technology businesses as CEO or Chairman in the functional nano-coating, remote-platform optometry, and Class III medical device spaces. 

He is currently Operating Partner with Nova Capital, a leading London-based private equity sponsor with a specific strategic focus on acquiring portfolios of business streams in single transactions, specializing in corporate carve outs spread across multiple geographies with complex transactional characteristics.

Based near Savannah Georgia, Carl has lived in Europe and Asia. He has a BSc from University of Cincinnati, is a graduate of the Institute of Executive Growth at Earlham College, and a member of Mensa. Carl served as Chairman of ASAP from 2021 through 2025.
